Chip Fenney
Instructor
Chip has been playing saxophone professionally and teaching lessons for over 20 years. He started playing music in elementary school. It quickly became a passion and he started playing gigs while still in high school. He studied saxophone performance and music education at the University of Connecticut.

While there he played in the symphonic wind ensemble, jazz big band, small jazz combo groups and sax ensemble, as well as working on his flute and clarinet playing. During this time he was also an active performer outside of school, playing gigs throughout New England and up and down the eastern seaboard.

He’s been fortunate enough to have played in several different local & touring musical groups of various styles including jazz, rhythm and blues, hip-hop, pop rock, original rock, funk, and ska projects, americana, latin music, and has even played a number of square dances.

He’s also been active as a clinician/guest artist for several middle and high schools throughout Connecticut as well as an adjudicator for the Connecticut regional & all state music festivals. He has been called upon as a recording artist for several independent CDs over the years and is still an active performer in various groups playing throughout the U.S.

His passion for playing, teaching & sharing music continues to this day.
